活発な幼少時代
幼い頃のケイトは、非常に引っ込み思案だったそうです。
しかし一方で、ガールスカウトに参加して活動し、スポーツ万能で様々なジャンルのスポーツで汗を流す、活発な少女でもありました。
ケイトを知る人たちは、揃って「ケイトは運動能力が抜群だった」といいます。
球技であるテニス、ネットボール（イギリスのスポーツ）、バレーボールのほか、水泳、陸上、スキーなど、まさにスポーツとあらば何でも好んでチャレンジしていました。
後に夫となるウィリアム王子とは、スポーツという共通の趣味を通じて交流を深めていきましたが、ケイトのスポーツ好きは幼い頃から変わらないものだったのです。
ケイトは1986年にブラッドフィールド英国国教会小学校に入学し、1989年にパングボーンのセント・アンドルーズ校に転校しました。
両親の仕事の関係で引っ越しをし、時には転校することも余儀なくされましたが、ケイトはどこの学校でもすぐに周りと馴染み、信頼を得るようになっていたといいます。
それは、両親によるところが大きかったのだと思います。
特に母・キャロルは、娘たちが上流階級にも通じるような女性になることを願い、教育に力を注ぎました。
それは子供に高学歴であることを望む以前に、誰に対しても礼儀正しく、誠実に接することを第一とする教育理念です。
ケイトは母の熱心な教育のお陰で、誰からも好かれる素晴らしい少女になったのです。

Active childhood
It is said that Kate was very shy when she was a child.
On the other hand, she was an active girl who participated in Girl Scouts actively and good at playing sports, and played a various kinds of sports.
All people who know Kate say that Kate was amazing at sport.
She tried to challenge any sports, ball games, such as tennis, netball (sports in the United Kingdom), and volleyball, and also swimming, running, and skiing.
After that she met Prince William to be her husband and deepened their exchange through a common hobby, sports, but she has loved sports since her childhood.
Kate was enrolled at Bradfield CE (VA) Primary School in 1986, and changed schools in 1989 to St Andrew's School near the village of Pangbourne.
She had to change schools at times due to the work of her parents, but she had always been friendly in any schools and obtained a trust.
It seems to be thanks to her parents.
Especially her mother, Carol hoped that her daughters become women like the aristocracy and was devoted to the education.
It is the educational ideal to be polite and sincere to anyone firstly rather than to have a high educational background.
Kate became a great woman everyone likes thanks to the enthusiastic education of her mother.
