ギャップイヤーを過ごして
ケイトはフィレンツェでのギャップ・イヤー（カレッジ卒業から大学進学までの猶予期間）を、友達とフラット（アパート）シェアで過ごし、多くの友達にも恵まれました。
フィレンツェでの生活は順調そのもの、そんな中、ある噂が飛び込んできました。
イギリスのウィリアム王子がフィレンツェの大学準備コースに参加するという噂です。
結局、その噂は事実ではありませんでしたが、フィレンツェに住む若き英国のティーンエイジャーにとって、それは王子と知り合える絶好のチャンスで、胸を躍らすような噂であったに違いありません。
しかし、ケイトは当時、別の男子に熱を上げていて、ウィリアムの噂には特に関心を示さなかったそうです。
ケイトは昔からウィリアムの大ファンでした。
しかし、当時の彼女には、目の前にある恋愛や生活ほうが大事だったのです。
ケイトはギャップイヤーの間に、進学先を決めなくてはなりませんでした。
しかしフィレンツェで過ごす間も、将来王子と出会う「セント・アンドルーズ」という選択肢について、まだ迷っていました。
ケイトがどの時点で明確に進学先を決意したのかは定かではありませんが、少なくともフィレンツェでの期間で、進学先を決めるには至らなかったようです。
そして、フィレンツェ滞在を終えると、ケイトは8ヶ月間旅を続けました。
途中、家族とバカンスを過ごすために旅を中断しましたが、それ以外は、見聞を広げる世界放浪を満喫して過ごしました。

Through a Gap Year
Kate spent a gap year in Florence (the grace period from the graduation of college to the enrollment in university), lived and shared with friends at a flat (apartment), and she made a lot of friends.

She had a break in a journey to spend vacation with her family during a journey. After that she spent to enjoy traveling over the world.
