ケイトが進学先として最終的にセント・アンドルーズを選び、スコットランドの学生街、セント・アンドルーズに到着したのは、2001年9月のことです。

ケイトは大学で一番評判のよい寮に入居し、新しい学生生活に備えていました。

そしてここで、運命の出会いを果たします。

ケイトと同じ寮に、ウィリアム王子も入居することになったのです。

ウィリアムは、かねてから進学校をセント・アンドルーズに決めていて、あとはどのような学生生活を送るかについて、思いをめぐらせるのみでした。

ただ、寮生活を始めたばかりの頃、ウィリアムはなかなかその場に馴染めずにいました。

それは、王家出身という特別な立場にあったことによる気後れもあり、またスキャンダルを起こさないように注意を払いすぎていたことで、却って自分の殻に閉じこもるようにいたからです。

しかし、周りの学生とは徐々に打ち解け、別の階に住むケイトとも、同居人として親しくなっていきます。

やがてウィリアムの周りには一つのグループができ、ケイトはそのグループに入り、ウィリアムと親しくなりました。

二人の当初の関係は、ささやかな友情関係のみです。

その後、ちょっとずつお互いの距離を縮め、気づけば一緒にいて最も安らぐ相手になっていたのでしょう。

大学生活初年度の終わり頃、二人の関係は、恋愛に変わっていきます。

The First Year in St Andrews

Kate finally chose St Andrews to enroll in and arrived at St Andrews in a student city of Scotland in September 2001.

Kate moved into the dormitory which has the best reputation in university and prepared the new campus life.

And a fateful meeting came there.
Prince William was also allocated to the same dormitory with Kate.

William chose to advance to the University of St Andrews and he just imagined about his student life.

When William just started the dorm life, he was not able to get used to the place very much.

It is due to the fact that he is on a special position as the royal family and also that he paid attention too much so as not to cause a scandal, so he withdrew into his shell.

But he became gradually with othr students and became friends with Kate living on another floor as a housemate

Their original relationship was just the modest friendship.

Then their distance must have been shorten little by a little, and they would have become the most comforting partners to be with.

In the end of the first year in university, their friendship grew into love.
