キャサリン妃の結婚指輪は、王家御用達の宝石商、ウォルツキが制作しました。

ウォルツキは、ロシア出身の宝石商モリス・ウォルツキが創始者で、1865年にロンドンに最初の店をオープンしました。

宝石のほかにも、ゴールドボックスやロシアの宝石職人、カール・ファベルジェのコレクションなどを扱い、20世紀には王室御用達の宝石商に昇格しました。

キャサリンの指輪のベースになっているのは、「ウェルシュ・ゴールド」です。

「ウェルシュ・ゴールド」は、ウェールズ地方でしか採取されない非常に希少性のある金で、1923年以降、王室ではウェルシュ・ゴールドで結婚指輪を制作することが伝統になりました。

故ダイアナ妃やカミラ夫人も、ウェルシュ・ゴールドの結婚指輪を授かり、今回はキャサリンが、王室の伝統に則った世界でたった一つだけの指輪を手にしたのです。

このことで、キャサリンは名実ともにロイヤルファミリーのメンバーとして認められたことになります。

現在のキャサリン妃は公式行事で婚約指輪として贈られたサファイアの指輪をつけていることが多いようですが、結婚式の場でウィリアムがキャサリンの指にはめたウェルシュ・ゴールドの結婚指輪もまた、キャサリンにとって他とは比較にならないほど格別なものであることは間違いないでしょう。

The Wedding Ring

The wedding ring for Catherine was made by Wartski.

Wartski was founded by a Russian-born jeweler, Morris Wartski and the first shop was set up in London in 1865.

In addition to jewelry, Wartski on the other hand specializes in gold box, Russian fine jewely, and the Carl Faberge work. This is why this company has been one of the favorites of the royal family in the 20th century.

The base of Catherines ring is made of Welsh gold.

Welsh gold is so precious, which occurs only in Wales and a single nugget of it has been used to create wedding rings for generations of the British Royal Family since 1923.

The late Princess Diana and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall also received welsh gold wedding rings and this time Catherine received the only one ring in the world in line with the tradition of the royal family.

This suggests that Catherine is recognized as a member of the royal family both in name and reality.

Catherine often wears a sapphire ring that was given as the engagement ring in the official events. On the other hand, the welsh gold wedding ring that William gave at the wedding ceremony is also no doubt exceptional for Catherine.
